  • WPSB Returns to Historic WENN Calls; Adds Urban Talk Programming

WPSB-AM 1320 "Radio Centro" has ended its LMA with KPI Latino and returned to its previous call letters of WENN, ones the station last used more than 26 years ago. The WENN calls were last seen on AM 1320 in January, 1983, when the station became gospel WAGG. Since that time, the WENN calls have continued to be part of the Birmingham radio landscape, most recently at the current WVVB (105.5 FM).

AM 1320's regional mexican format, "Radio Centro", previously heard on the station since January, 2007, ended on March 24. The following day, WENN began a simulcast of co-owned urban adult contemporary WBHK "98.7, Kiss-FM".

In late April, WENN began offering blocks of talk programming (urban talk) during the day. Stay tuned for further updates...

  • So...why the website?

  • That's a good question. For those of you reading this page, it's quite possible you found your way here from one of the posts I've placed on radio-info.com. Although I don't work in radio, it has always been one of my favorite hobbies since I was a young boy. However, it has never been able to make me "complete", if you will. So...here are a couple of questions for you.

What is most important to you? Is it your spouse? Your family? Your job? Your hobbies? Or maybe even your possessions?

Ok...second question. When you die, where will you spend eternity? This is important, so if you read anything on this site, please read this page.

Most people have different theories of whether or not we have an eternal resting place like Heaven, but how do any of us know for sure if we're going to get there? Some believe that if we live a good life or if our "good deeds" outweigh our "bad deeds", we will get to Heaven. If we believe that's the case, how can we ever know with certainty we will get to Heaven when we die? How do we know if we will "measure up"?

Ok...you might say, "Well, I'm not really a bad person. I don't commit any of the 'big sins' so surely God will let me into Heaven. The Bible says, however, that we all have fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23), and that our "falling short" is manifest through sin. Not only that...but we have to pay for that sin since God is Holy, perfect, and without sin. Part of that payment entails being kept out of Heaven. We cannot even commit ONE sin, as small as it may seem, because, if we do, we will be under God's condemnation. If that's the case and we have to do the impossible (be perfect), how can any of us get to Heaven when we die?

Fortunately, God has given us an "escape route". He knows that humans, being imperfect, would never be able to be totally without sin. Therefore, He decided to send His son, Jesus Christ into the world on our behalf. Why did God do that? So that we wouldn't have to pay the penalty for our sins, which is death (see Romans 6:23 below). Jesus Christ took the punishment for OUR sin upon Himself in order that God would be satisfied for the penalty we had to pay. Since Jesus died in our place, God declares us "not guilty". He wipes the "slate clean", not counting our sins against us.

Without a personal committment on our part to Jesus Christ, we will not get to Heaven because we remain under God's condemnation. God has chosen the sacrifice of His son as a means of reconciling us to Himself and allowing us to go to Heaven; God accepts no other substitutes or exceptions. Therefore, Jesus Christ is the only way we will get to heaven.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23)

"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him." (John 3:36)

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son." (John 3:16-18)

You might ask yourself, "If the Bible tells us that the only way we can get to Heaven is through Jesus Christ, how do we know that the Bible is true? After all, there are so many theories about how we get to Heaven, how do we know that our trust in Jesus Christ will save us?" Click HERE to know how we can know for sure the Bible is trustworthy in learning about how we can get to Heaven.

Although I enjoy sharing with you about Birmingham radio, my main focus is to use this webpage as an evangelistic tool, to share with others about Jesus Christ.
